SAL Pulpwood Car Arrives

The Pulpwood car that the Museum recently purchased arrived at the Museum on May 7, 2002. This was one of the only two left that was still owned by CSX. It was built during April, 1963 for the Seaboard Airline Railroad by Thrall Car Mfg. Co. in Chicago Heights, IL as SAL 45674. It makes makes a nice addition to the Museum’s collection since pulpwood has been and still is a large industry in South Carolina. Please check the Freight Cars section under Equipment to see a picture of the car at Rockton.
