Display Track Rebuild at Rockton

The display track at Rockton is being rebuilt and a new second display track will be added to allow more equipment to be displayed. The next step will be to add the sub-roadbed and then install the new crossties and switch. The project is slated for completion prior to the Museum opening in June. Stay tuned for more updates and pictures as work progresses.

The roadbed of the old display track can be see here just after the old ties and rail were removed in late January 2008. Ties just removed
Grading is well underway as seen here to the old roadbed during February. The roadbed is being lowered to reduce the grade. The new second display track will begin here to the left running parallel to the center track. Roadbed grading
The old display track had a sharp curve to the left which is being reduce to a wider curve as work continues in February. This will also allow room for the new second display track which will be on the left. Roadbed grading
The grading of the new roadbed near the end is nearly complete in early March. The display track will be moved over about 20 feet to the right from where it was originally located. Grading at upper end
