railroad history.
Smith-Barney/Robinson-Humphrey Account
The Museum now has an account with Smith-Barney/Robinson-Humphrey Co. in Columbia, S.C., opened for the purpose of
allowing donors an additional way of assisting the Museum through the gift of appreciated securities.Such a
donation, while preserving the charitable contribution of the donor in full, avoids the capital gains tax which
the donor otherwise would owe.The gain is passed through to the Museum, which is exempt from the tax.
Anyone interested in this form of contribution should contact Jim Massfeller at (803) 548-7750 for
details on the procedure for donation of securities. Jim can also provide a list of current Museum projects in need
of financial assistance....
