Locomotive Experience

Safety Requirements

  • Age restriction: This experience is limited to passengers ages 5 and up.

  • Adult supervision: Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult age 21 or older.

  • Physical ability: Passengers must be able to climb vertical stairs, which requires upper‑body strength and stable mobility.

  • Hearing protection: Hearing protection is required and will be provided by the museum. Guests may bring their own personal hearing protection if preferred.

Important Safety Considerations

  • The locomotive cab is an active operating environment with elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and moving equipment.

  • Riders should expect sudden sounds, vibration, and limited seating or standing room, depending on the locomotive in service.

  • Clothing and personal items should be secure, as loose items may pose a safety risk.

Experience Description

This experience places riders inside the cab of the locomotive, alongside the crew. You will be immersed in the operations, sounds, movement, and smells that define real locomotive work. From the engineer’s perspective, you’ll witness how the locomotive responds, how the crew communicates, and how the train is controlled throughout the trip.
